Willett School is in Attleboro, Massachusetts. Attleboro is a small city in the southeastern corner of Massachusetts. Its industrial base is primarily Jewelry and Electronics. Many of Attleboro's families commute to Boston on the Commuter Rail . Its biggest employer is Texas Instruments.
Thomas Willett- Willett School is named for Capt. Thomas Willett, who succeeded Miles Standish as head of Plymouth's colonial militia. Willett negotiated the Rehoboth "North Purchase" from Wampanoag leader Wamsutta, Massasoit's son. This purchase included today's Attleboro and North Attleboro, and the bulk of the upper Ten Mile River Watershed. Captain Willett later became the first English mayor of New York, returning in later years to live along the lower section of Ten Mile River. He is buried in Swansea.
