*What is Title I?

Title I is short for "Title I, Part A of the
Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965, Reauthorized by the No Child
Left Behind Act of 2001."
It is the largest federal assistance program
for our nation's schools.
The goal of Title I
is a highly qualified education for every child, so the program provides
extra support to help students who need it most. These are children who are the
furthest from meeting the standards the state has set for all children.
The program serves millions of children in elementary and secondary
schools each year. Most school districts participate.
